I Wish to Wish a Wish!

I have my own secret 'sunset place' at my college. I go there sometimes.
Sit.
Think.
I'm really in love with the alone time I have there, sitting near the fountain, seeing the sun go down. This
evening I was wondering. Something.
So, like every other person, I have some wishes too. Some reasonable, some not so, and some... well ... MAD!
I thought of some of my weird wishes that I never thought would come true.
I'll tell those some time later!
Unfortunately, as expected, life is very unexpected. Hopes too shatter and dreams too break.
Here are some:

  • Ever since I was born, my one and only true wish was to become a horse. Sadly, when I grew up, I realized it cannot happen. First heartbreak!
  • I grew up a little. I wanted to see a chick hatch out of the egg. I took an egg from the fridge, wrapped it in my hankie, Kept it on the TV (so that it would take some warmth from it!). And I waited, for few weeks. Nothing happened. Second heartbreak!
  • I was 6, I started going to school. The teacher taught about trees. I wanted my own! I had very lovingly sown seeds of cherries. They never germinated. Third heartbreak!
  • I was in fifth grade. I wanted to become the class monitor. Sad.
  • Since I was twelve, I had BIG crush on two people. I still do. I wanted to meet Zac Efron and Jesse McCartney. I still do :'( I wonder if I would! I remember I have two diaries filled. I have written lots and lots. I even watched HSM 59 times in 3 years!
  • In eighth grade, I had started making a tree house. I had made something like a house with a door out of wood. I have no idea where that something is now! It never got completed.
  • I wanted to tell something to somebody. But before I could, she died. This became the biggest void in my life! (If only she could get to know what I wanted to say!) Ahh! But she will never. Fourth heartbreak!
  • I want to receive a LONG letter. Really long. Surprisingly, even this didn't happen! All I got till now was : Notes from my mother, when I returned from school, "This thing is in the fridge, that thing is there. Feed your brother.Take the clothes from outside if it rains." That's it. Nothing like a letter I want. I even begged some people to write to me, because I don't know why I wanted to receive a LONG letter. But, people nowadays hardly get time to breathe from their busy schedules. Let alone write a letter!
  • I wanted to SING! But ... I cannot sing good. The only people who love to hear me sing are: my mother, some friends. Because they HAVE TO! :P
  • I want to see a porcupine. Don't ask me why. I will, some day.
  • *This wish is a secret* :P
  • Another one is that I stop writing stupid posts, like these. But that, dear reader is never possible. Either I find something stupid to write about. Or I don't find anything at all!
If a man could have half of his wishes, he would double his troubles.
Strange, but true!

Greeny :)

Grasshoppers are such cute little sweethearts! I never realized it before coming here.
I have a pet grasshopper in my room. When we met for the first time, I freaked out, but later he introduced me to his other friends. And they all were very interesting. So I brought him to my room.
We have baby grasshoppers, big green grasshoppers, black grasshoppers, brown grasshoppers, scary grasshoppers, sweet grasshoppers. I even saw a golden grasshopper!
There must be at least 1000 different species of them here.
So!
The name of my pet is Greeny.
Every morning, he wakes me up on time. I get ready for college, and then, say goodbye to him, he stays in the room.
I miss him a lot during the day, so once during the lunch hours, I go and see how is he doing and give him some food.
Then I leave him again, with tears in his eyes! :'(
There's nothing better than coming back to the hostel after a long, tiring day and see Greeny waiting for me at the door, with twinkle in his eyes! :')
He also saves me from some of the irritating friends, by scaring them away.
I even wrote a poem for him, he liked it very much. He's one of the bestest friends I made here
So, a month after coming to college, I finally found something very interesting.
Long live my Greeny!
PS - Yes, I am mad!

And This is How They Decided My Future

With trembling hands I entered my roll number, date of birth. And I saw my result
Apoorva Tikku
Category: General
Sub Category: None
State code of eligibility: Himachal Pradesh
Percentile Score in Qualifying Exam 81.73
All India Percentile Score in JEE(Main)-2013  96.69
All India Rank : Wait... WHAT?
As I kept staring at my 5 digit AIR, I couldn't breathe for MINUTES
I wasn't expecting a very very good rank. But THIS! was too much.
A hundred things flashed in my mind in a nanosecond
Just then my friend called
"What's your rank?" she asked?
I was in no mood to talk to her. She was sounding very happy
"I got 9k rank", she said.
Which surprised me. Because she had a fairly lower JEE score than me.
But then I realized. She had 97% in board exams
"Congrats, bye"
Only from this year, they had to give weightage to the boards marks?
As soon as I cut the call, the thoughts came back to me.
I thought of last year. I thought of what I had thought. I thought of what I might get with this. I even thought of doing something stupid again. And I almost did. Almost
But then realized, Zindagi itni bhi sasti nahi hai.
Here was a failure, once again. Staring at me from the screen.
A failure.
And as I, drowned in my tears sit down and write all of this, I cannot think anything but the 5 digit rank.
This is how they decided my future. With this number.

... And Finally!! Our First Lunch

Ever seen a girl with cheeks so red, so red like a really red thing?
I have! And I love those cheeks a lot :)
And the pink princess wakes me up from my peaceful sleep,
"Hello", I say sleepily.
"Didi, Aap ghar pe akele ho?" (Are you alone at home)
"Umm Yes, you're coming?"
"Yes I'm in your town and I need a place to crash. I'm coming"
Fine.... And so I knew today was going to be awesome!  And I doze off again..

So, by now, you must be knowing that this girl, Bateeesa, is my bestie. All my earlier posts were about which! We've had all kinds of adventures, too much fun in the last 5 years.

Okay. You might not want to read further, unless, you have nothing to do, or you are bored, or you are , Divya, Aanchal, or Vidisha herself. :D

So, I woke up again when she came. My Pinko in a Pink dress :')
Miss Pinko and I did some future planning. And then her Aunty wali friend called her. And she kept yapping yapping yapping, leaving me alone.
They both kept talking like aunties, and I had no other option than listen to them.
Please don't forget to bring it next time :P
12:59
1:15
1:47
2:10
"Vidisha... I'm starving. Lunch. Lunch. Lunch''
And we got ready, locked the house... And left. (She STILL on the phone)
"Bye Geetika'' I said, loudly and then FINALLY it was the two of us.
So it was quite funny, when we were walking..  Since there's a difference of good 11 inches in our heights, when she was holding the umbrella, it was going pat pat pat on my head :D
There we reached, as she had decided, Regent Palms.
We went there, and took my favorite table near the window :D
There were too many aunties having their Kitty party (Aunties, Aunties everywhere)
"So, what do you want to eat?"
"I don't know. Let's see", she replied
Unable to decide, Vidisha said, "All right! Ab harkuch mangaate hain''
Fine. We ordered. Continued with our future planning :P
I could describe it in two pages.
But that would be boring
So, we ate.
''Ice cream?"
"Yes!!"
So, I had my favorite. Chocolate. And she, strawberry
And here comes the "ICE CREAM KAAND"
She said something to the waiter, which I won't disclose, otherwise my pretty friend will kill me, for sure.
It was terrible. For the first time, I did NOT like chocolate ice cream.
While going back, she again said something for the waiter, which, again is not to be disclosed :D
"Bahut ***** se aapne *****"
She had to buy stuff. Binding wires, some form, some beads and HNPFP, which I bought too..  :P
And then.... we came back
We had quite fun.
And then... she went :'(
Funny, she left her wires in my purse. Now she has to come back on 25th :D
So, I know you will be reading it too late... but whenever you do... I just wanted to tell you again..
Tere shoes pe dil aa gaya tha mera :')
And here ends the most boring post ever!
Love you lots :D
Your Dido

And this was our future planning :D

When I grow up...

So this evening, I was sitting outside, watching my new little neighbors and their littler friends play.
They were playing "chair hide and seek", which I had taught them yesterday, which me, and my friend had invented 10 years ago!
"Stupid game, why don't we all play cricket?", said 7 year old Manku "I will be a cricketer when I grow up. Sachin Tendulkar"
"Oh really? I don't think so. Even I play better than you", little Tani spoke up.

Wow. Those kids started fighting (So cute!)
"Okay Tani, What do you want to be when you grow up?", I asked her.
I always love to ask little children what do they want to become when they grow up. Well because, I'm still looking for ideas!
"Me? I want to be Miss India", she said, as she started waving and blowing kisses to everyone.
"Miss India. Awesome! What about you, Sahil?"
"I want to be a Papa" (What!)
"Hawww.." was what all of them said, all together
(Well, great thought, though. I had a boy in my class, who had said in 3rd grade, when a teacher asked him, that he wanted to become a papa and a house-husband, both)
"You're next, Ishani. Do you want to become a Mumma?", I smiled. Everybody laughed.
"No. I want to become a detective"
"What will you do, then?"
"Solve cases, like ACP Pradyuman does. It will be fun, no?"
"No! I will be a magician. THAT will be fun. I'll do things no one had ever seen!", Kshitij screamed.

Haha! remember when we were little, and we wanted to do all sorts of things.! Those days when we meet someone, and in 5 seconds, we're playing like we're the best of friends!

"Arre didi, what do YOU want to be when you grow up?" Tani asked.
"Can't you see, didi is already grown up enough, you stupid!" Manku laughed!
"Why don't you shut up! She will grow more na, and become like the badi wali didi"
(Badi wali didi... is my elder cousin)
"Didi tell na, it's your turn!"

And I start thinking.
Me? Well I don't remember. But my mother tells me that when I was small, and whenever anybody asked me, I would say "Scientist" and start beaming :D
But then when I grew up a little, I remember all I wanted, was to be a horse.! They laughed at me, but that did not shake my determination. :P Actually I pretty much wanted all of the above (except for house husband, of course!)
So,
Tell me, what do YOU want to become when you grow up?

P.S. - I STILL want to become a horse!

Two Questions

Amazing much. Take 5 minutes to read!

Question 1:
If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally reatarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion?

Read the next question before looking at the response for this one.

Question 2:
It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts.
Here are the facts about the three candidates.

Candidate A:
Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologists. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 Martinis a day.

Candidate B:
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C:
He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never committed adultery.

Which of these candidates would be your choice?

Decide first... No peeking, then scroll down for the response.

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Candidate B is Winston Chruchill.
Candidate C is Adolf Hitler.

And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion question:
If you said YES, you just killed Beethoven.

Pretty interesting isn't it?
Makes a person think before judging someone.

Professionals... Built the Titanic.

Sorry Dad

I glanced upon this touching story in one of the recent editions of Elan Tit-Bits that my doctor father gets almost every month. Read on...

My dad had only one eye. I hated him. He was such an embarrassment. He cooked for students and teachers to support the family. There was this one day during elementary school when my dad came to say hello to me.

I was so embarrassed.

How could he do this to me?

I ignored him, threw him a hateful look and then ran out.

The next day at school, one of my classmates said, "EEEE, your dad has only one eye!"

I wanted to bury myself.

I also wanted my dad to just disappear.

I confronted him that day and said, "If you're going to make me a laughing stock, why don't you just die?"

My dad did not respond.

I didn't even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger.

I was oblivious to his feelings.

I went out of the house, and had nothing to do with him.

Then I studied really hard and got a chance to go abroad and study.

Then, I got married.

I bought a house of my own and had kids of my own.

I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then, one day, my father came to visit me.

He hadn't seen me in years, and he hadn't even met his grandchildren.

When he stood by the door, my children laughed at him, and I yelled at him for coming over uninvited.

I screamed at him, "How dare you come to my house and scare my children!

GET OUT OF HERE NOW!"

To this, my father quietly answered, "Oh, I am so sorry, I may have gotten the wrong address."

And he disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house.

So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip.

After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbours said that my dad had died.

I did not shed a single tear.

They handed me a letter that he had wanted me to read.

"My dearest Son,

I think of you all the time. I'm sorry that I came to your house and scared your children. I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you.

I'm sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see, when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a father, I couldn't stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine. I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,

Your Dad"

तो ज़िंदा हो तुम

Last night I was watching Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
I was forcing myself to stay awake because I had never watched it complete!:P
So in a half asleep state what I remember the most were 2 things:
First, was when they went skydiving. Farhan's reaction when he landed- epic!
And the second, the end! Imran's poem.

Oops I remember only this much! But I like it a lot :)
So, One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering... because ZNMD!
